And, probably, if you didn't like it then you won't like it now. Like Dirty Larry pointed out they are targeting a new crowd now. I hate that "enhanced" edition crap like The Witcher, for example. If id would have release Doom 3 BFG in 2005 or 2006, sure that is too close and it shows a real lack of support. I don't see any problem with companies doing face lifts on some old games and wanting to make money off of that. I'd feel the same if Valve did a Half-Life 2 facelift release. If Blizzard were to re-release Warcraft 3 + Expansion with (even slightly) revamped graphics, widescreen support, a short extra single player campaign and sold it for $30, I'd probably buy it. They can screw themselves with the BFG edition of Doom 3. id has become dirty cheap when it comes to supporting the PC platform, as a PC gamer I won't encourage this kind of horrible, horrible behavior. And no, I'm not interested in remakes of games that still works perfectly on my PCs. It's a clear commercial move to ramp up interest for Doom 4.
